Step-by-step guide

  1. 1Measure straight across the finished wall, including the finished surfaces on both sides.
  2. 2On an existing frame, measure between the frame returns at the throat.
  3. 3Check the measurement at more than one location because wall thickness can vary.
  4. 4Record the finished-wall measurement separately from the frame face dimension.

Transcript

Frame throat is the part of the frame that wraps the finished wall. Measure the complete finished wall thickness, including drywall, tile, or other finish. Check several places and use the measurement required by the selected frame profile.
